Meet The Founder
Steve Redmond
The Valley Wealth Alliance was established in 2020 by Steve Redmond. Steve is a lifelong resident of Allentown, Pennsylvania. He graduated from William Allen High School in 1990 and went on to study Sociology and Criminal Justice at East Stroudsburg University. In 1994 Steve started his career working for the State of New Jersey. Although Steve worked in New Jersey, he maintained his ties to the Allentown community by establishing a non-profit basketball/educational
program for the inner city youth of Allentown, became a landlord that provided safe and secure housing for HUD tenants, and volunteered at various non-profits throughout the Lehigh Valley. Steve has spent his life closely working with the low-income community and realized over the years that the lack of financial literacy contributes significantly to the wealth gap in the Lehigh Valley. Therefore, Steve wants to close the gap by providing the community with information, services, and scholarship opportunities to help break the cycle of generational poverty.

Programs
Youth Financial Literacy
Most low to moderate-income young people don't have conversations about money. This is often the beginning of a continuous cycle of poverty. The Valley Wealth Alliance is looking to break that cycle by planting the seeds of financial literacy into their daily lives. Our program partners with financial institutions, school districts, and community leaders to teach the basics of money, budgeting, checking, credit, savings, and investments. The goal is for them to grow up and become financially responsible adults. Our Certified Financial Education Instructors, accredited through the National Financial Educators Council, lead our programs.
Kidz Mean Business
The “Kidz Mean Business" program, produced by the Valley Wealth Alliance, is a program that helps kids from 8th to 12th grade learn to start and operate a business. Our goal with this program is to provide the next generation of kids with the information they will need to create a business, choose a career path, and eliminate financial insecurities. We summarize this program in three words: Educate, Coach, and Connect.
Invest in Your Future Scholarship Program
Each year, we give out multiple monetary scholarships to high school seniors in the Lehigh Valley that want to better themselves by attending a community college, four-year institution or trade school. Students must achieve at least a 2.8 grade point average, complete an essay, and provide requested documentation. Students may apply or be referred to us by any member of the community.
Smart Shopper Program
“Smart Shopper” is a program to help self-reliant adults save money through apps, programs, and services that reduce the cost of everyday purchases. Each week the Valley Wealth Alliance will conduct an in-person group session to install apps, share available discounts, couponing, and reward programs. Those who qualify will be informed of benefits available through government assistance programs. With inflation continuing to rise, Allentown residents can benefit by taking advantage of our cost-saving information to help them get through these hard financial times. All applications we researched are free of cost.
